Back to Military Life!

Today is the big day! It's actually the day that I've been talking about for some time to those who know me best. After a little over four years of being solely a civilian, I'm re-enlisting in the Air National Guard as a "traditional" guardsman. You may as why and I'll give you the same answer I gave my wife. I miss it and I owe them! The four years I spent in the Air Force was perhaps the most gratifying years of my life. I not only acquired direction after years of not having a clue of what I wanted to do, I gained a love for my country. The relationships that I built during those four years are the strongest relationships other than my family that I have today.

I'm definitely lucky that I have a family who supports me enough not to push back at this and understands the cause. It's definitely going to be a proud moment this afternoon when I stand with my family and take that oath of enlistment when just over 8 years ago, I took it alone at the Charlotte MEPS. Hopefully, I'll make them proud!

My goals are to
1. Display the core values (Integrity First, Service before Self and Excellence in all we do.
2. Learn a new trade (HVAC will be my job)
3. Build new relationships (You simply don't get finer friends than those who serve)
4. Earn rank and eventually become an officer.

With respect to my family, Please pray for them in this time of change. I've done this before but, it's all new to them.

Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At 'em boys, Give 'er the gun!
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off with one hell of a roar!*
We live in fame or go down in flame.
Nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force!
